This piece reinterprets lace by transforming its delicate, traditional patterns into a sculptural, adaptable form. Made primarily in black with hints of gray, it maintains lace’s intricate texture while challenging its associations with fragility.
Historically tied to femininity yet also present in military and ceremonial attire, lace carries a tension between softness and strength. I wanted to push that contrast further, using unconventional materials and modular design to create something that moves, shifts, and refuses to be defined.
With detachable segments that connect through pearls, the piece can be worn as an avant-garde vest, hung as a sculptural textile, or laid out as a decorative element. At its core, it’s about transformation—reclaiming something delicate and making it fluid, resilient, and ever-changing.
