Human Nature Collection
Human Nature was born out of a need to explore identity and defiance through fashion. Inspired by Madonna’s unapologetic song and the raw energy of San Francisco’s Folsom Street Festival, this collection speaks to embracing who we are, even in the face of societal constraints. Human Nature, for me, isn’t just a song—it’s a reminder to live openly and boldly, themes that I’ve found myself returning to time and again.
The collection draws on the colors of the Folsom Flag—blue, black, red, and white—symbolizing pride and a willingness to challenge convention. I worked exclusively with faux leather, a material that echoes the festival’s aesthetic but reinterpreted here in ways that feel sculptural and sophisticated. These pieces are tough yet inviting, designed to push boundaries while remaining wearable.
Presenting this collection at San Francisco Fashion Week, where I received the Best Emerging Designer award, and then at New York Fashion Week, was a surreal experience. Seeing how people connected to it reminded me that fashion can communicate stories that are personal yet shared. Human Nature is for anyone who’s ever felt the need to conform, only to discover the strength to live on their own terms.
